White Owl

White Owl got his start as a DJ in the late Eighties, playing house parties, school dances and skating rinks. In 1992 he attended his first Rave, NASA at club Shelter in NYC. There he spun Hip Hop and House in the chillout room and became one of the hardest working promoters in the north east scene. From there, he graduated to DJing a weekly night at the famous Limelight nightclub in NYC on Tuesday nights alongside DJ Reese. Throughout the Nineties he became one of the earliest purveyors of Drum and Bass by helping Konkrete Jungle get its start in NY and taking the sound to Atlanta, GA where he opened the city’s first underground dance music record store with DJ Debbie D from Gainesville, FL. After the 1996 Olympics he moved to New Orleans where he spun the first Jungle/DnB sets on the main stage of Disco Donnie’s Raves at State Palace Theater in the French Quarter. In 1998, he returned to his hometown, NYC, and launched one of the world’s earliest podcasts, Blessed Sessions, a long running underground Hip Hop show, alongside DJ Vital of 12” Assassins. For a decade he ran one of Brooklyn’s foremost professional audio retail outlets, Proline Electronics. In the early 2000s he built a recording studio in Havana, Cuba and toured with top Cuban rap group, Doble Filo. His latest endeavors include a professional blogging and podcasting career. He can be heard spinning some of the newest DnB, House, Techno, Dubstep and underground Hip Hop with unmatched precision and artistry. He is also an activist, social reformer and decorated scholar pursuing a graduate degree in order to help end the War on “Drugs” and help move society towards a more peaceful and well balanced existence.
